I had an amazing opportunity to chalk it up in front of the Hamiltion-Selway Fine Art gallery in West Hollywood, CA. This night was filled with music, colorful lifesize animal sculptures and a divine crowd that admired Melrose Avenue. What better way to compliment the gallery by rendering a Jeff Koons Ballon Dog sculpture, accompanied with a splash of Andy Warhol. The best part is referencing a real Andy Warhol piece through the window since this gallery has an impressive collection. |

In April I had the pleasure of chalking it up at the AutismHWY Chalk Art Festival. Not only did I get to share my passion for art with others while having a good time, I also had the opportunity to be a guest on Talk Time With Reid hosted by Reid Moriarty. For those of you that aren't familiar with Reid and his work here's a little back story on this wonderful guy!
Reid is an eighteen year old musician and student. He is known for his talent and charisma. Reid is a jack of all trades, he's the front man for the band "The Kingsmen" a band of 4 guys on the autism spectrum, he plays miracle league baseball, hosts Talk Time With Reid, and goes to school all at the same time. |

Canoga Park Dia de los Muertos Event Sunday, November 2, 2014 from 10:00am to 5:00pm
What is Día de los Muertos?
Día de los Muertos, (The Day of the Dead), is a celebration, which represents the merging of an ancient Aztec celebration with Catholicism. The tradition grew from the belief that the souls of the dead return each year to visit with and be entertained by their loved ones. Many of the traditions are consistent with All Souls and All Saints Day. |

Always an amazing time down in San Diego for the Little Italy Festa! We chalked it up Sunday morning and we actually broke our own record - Zoe and I worked on this piece and we completed it in only 4 hours!
Here are the top 10 phrases we heard as we chalked it up (We want to share some of the laughs with you) : 10. Is that Mick Jagger?
9. I love Adam Sandler. 8. Looks like he took a few hits. 7. You actually made him look better. 6. Yo Adrieeeeenne! 5. Rocky is totally the Italian Stallion. 4. "Quien es? |

My first year at Ventura Art Chalk Festival and I had no idea what to expect ....what was the concrete like? what about the weather? Well, let me show you what my view was all about: The weather was great - with a few slight winds that lifted up the chalk every now and then, but nothing that we could not smudge back into the concrete. It was a great summer day and I wanted to represent what summer meant to a few folks, and of course to me....So I asked the simple question, accompanied with the image of 4 specific popsicles/ice cream - Which one is your favorite? |

It's so cool to get "gifts"!!! and what I mean by gifts is sometimes a photograph or even a video! While chalking it up in Pasadena Chalk Festival 2014 - A new friend, Victor, took pictures and video of Bazzar and I throughout the weekend - and then I get a comment to check out his video and I was so delighted! I can't thank Victor enough!!! Sometimes as an artist, we get in such a trance of completing the work, that we lose track of documenting the process...but now thanks to this video that Victor (YouTube name: lionarenas) put together, I can relive this moment as many times as I would like. |

BRINGIN' MEXICAN BINGO TO PASADENA June 14th & 15, 2014
Had a blast this weekend as my friend and tattoo artist co-worker, Bazzar and I took on the challenge of completing an 11ft x17ft chalk mural at the Pasadena Chalk Festival. We were super prepared Saturday morning and we were ready to chalk it up all weekend, despite the Friday the 13th long working day festivities (total tradition for tattoo shops to have $13 tattoos on all Friday the 13ths...the shop was still cranking out tattoos at 4am - so you can imagine our sleep deprivation. |

 | 4th Annual AutismHWY.com Chalk Festival. Getting started - got my space... |
I had such a blast chalking it up with many members for the autism awareness group - AutismHWY.com. This organization holds a special place in my heart- my sister introduced me and she accompanied me throughout the whole day. The only person missing was my nephew who has Aspergers - but he wasn't there for a great reason....He is away in college at UC Santa Cruz...making us all proud. So even though you weren't there Jimmy, this chalk piece is for you - you're becoming our Einstein while away in college. |
